Antique French Holy Heart St Eudes Medallion
This very rare and beautiful antique French medallion features a heavenly depiction of Mother Mary and Jesus Christ inside a Holy Heart. Next to Mary are roses (symbolic of sacrifice and eternal love) and next to The Holy Child are lilies which are symbolic of purity.
On the reverse is the profile of St John Eudes with the Sacred Heart of Jesus resting in his hand. Saint Eudes was an ardent proponent of the Sacred Hearts and dedicated himself to its promotion and celebration. Eudes was also a prolific writer and wrote on the Sacred Hearts despite opposition from the Jansenists.
