Absolutely stunning antique French silver holy medal depicting an ethereal image of The Blessed Mother Virgin Mary with a serene halo. This depiction of Mother Mary is inspired by a fresco in the catacomb of Priscilla and is the oldest representation of the Virgin. The reverse features an inverted Ave Maria symbol. The medal is punch marked for silver on the front and the reverse.
